Lawyer Charged in Alleged Courthouse Shoving Incident

In court in the Chicago area yesterday to represent the defendant in a hearing over a woman's request for an order of protection in a domestic relations case, Dan Florey clearly didn't obtain exactly the result he was hoping for.

The 48-year-old practitioner was charged with misdemeanor battery after allegedly shoving the opposing party's mother in the hallway outside the courtroom in which the hearing was held, reports the Chicago Tribune, relying on information from a Cook County sheriff's office press release.

When a nearby deputy in the Markham Courthouse intervened and tried to speak to Florey about the incident, he responded with a brief phrase that included an unprintable word, the release states. Arrested at that point, the lawyer posted $1,000 bond and is now scheduled to appear in court in his own case next month.

The article doesn't include any comment from Florey or his counsel. However, the Associated Press reports that Florey called the allegations against him "completely false" when contacted today.
